Tours Tasmania has added the Cape Hauy hike to their guided day tour program, giving your clients a chance to walk one of the island’s celebrated coastal walks.

Cape Hauy is a highlight of the renowned Three Capes Track and features on Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks list. An expert guide brings the geology, history and wildlife to life in a way a solo walk simply can't.

The day begins with an early 7.30am departure from Hobart, with a coffee stop en route, arriving at Fortescue Bay in Tasman National Park. From here, the group sets out on the moderate 9.4km return hike. Clients can expect around 4hrs of walking through coastal forest, woodland and heath before the track opens out to dramatic sea cliffs (some of the tallest in the southern hemisphere) and sweeping views across the Tasman Sea. The track leads to Cape Hauy lookout, where the impressive Candlestick and Totem Pole sea stacks rise dramatically from the ocean below.

After the hike, tour participants have time to relax at Fortescue Bay – a white sand beach with clear turquoise water. On the return drive to Hobart the tour stops at Bangor Vineyard Shed for a glass of wine and bite to eat. The tour returns to Hobart around 5pm.

The hike is rated moderate, with many stairs and some uneven terrain. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

The Cape Hauy hike tour is available to book now on the Tours Tasmania website. Tours bookable Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Friday tours also bookable from 1 December 2026. Maximum 10 people.
